Business dispute: Orissa HC orders arrest of cargo ship

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has ordered for arresting a cargo ship at Paradip port in Jagatsinghpur district in connection with a business dispute case.

While adjudicating over the petition filed by Cockett Marine Oil (Asia), Justice V. Narasingh ordered for the arrest of MV Marine Hornbill (IMO: 9594365).

The plaintiff informed the court that the cargo ship was scheduled to leave Paradip port August 18 (today). It urged the court to intervene into the issue and take steps for arrest of the ship.

Accepting the petitioner’s plea, the HC has directed the authorities concerned to arrest the ship.

The court asked the petitioner to submit details regarding the arrest warrant issued against MV Marine Hornbill within 24 hours. It also served notice on the opposite party, said the petitioner’s legal adviser Dibyanand Mishra.

Cockett Marine Oil (Asia) had filed a petition against MV Marine Hornbill of Panama seeking a payment of US Dollar 2,67,220 (21 crore INR). Senior lawyers BN Mohanty and Ashutosh Mohanty are representing the petitioner in the HC.
