Businessman found dead under mysterious circumstances in Odisha’s Cuttack; family suspects murder

Salipur: An elderly businessman was spotted by some locals while floating in Janhia-Ramakrushnapur irrigation canal at Balasahi under Salipur police limits of Cuttack, today morning.

The deceased was identified as 59-year-old Dolagobinda Das, who belonged to Matkatapur village of Jiginipur panchayat under Nischintakoili tehsil in the district.

According to a police source, Dolagobinda was a local trader of wood and construction materials like iron rods, metal chips and cement. On the intervening day (Saturday night), he had his dinner and later went to his business establishment in Janhia to sleep and was found dead the next morning.

Dolagobinda had severe injuries on his head, mouth, nose ears and bled profusely.

After he was found dead, the locals informed the elderly man’s family and Salipur police about it. A police team reached the spot and launched a probe into the alleged murder, which is underway. Police seized the body and sent it to the community health centre (CHC) in Nischintakoili for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, Dolagobinda’s family alleged that he has been murdered by some miscreants.
