Businessman kidnapped at gunpoint in Odisha’s Sambalpur

Sambalpur: A 63-year-old businessman was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint by three persons at Sasan in Odisha’s Sambalpur district today.

The abductee has been identified as Naresh Agrawal of Bareipali area in the district.

According to reports, Agrawal had gone to Sasan to take stock of the boundary construction work on a patch of land owned by him. As he was overseeing the work, three persons arrived at the spot in a car around 12.20 PM and punctured the wheels of the businessman’s car.

They threatened Agrawal at gunpoint and forcibly took him with them in their car. As per eyewitnesses, the vehicle headed towards Jharsuguda.

Acting on a complaint lodged by the driver of the businessman, police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident. Raids were underway at various places to locate the kidnappers. Till last reports came in, they were yet to be traced.

According to eyewitnesses, the abductors were wearing masks and communicating with each other in Hindi language.
