Cabinet approves 4 mega piped water supply projects in Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet today approved four mega piped water supply projects in Odisha districts namely Nayagarh, Bargarh, Khordha and Kalahandi with a total estimated cost of Rs 1553,96,23,627.

“Supply of safe drinking water to the people living in the rural areas is one of the priority areas of the State government. Accordingly, the government has taken a decision for execution of mega piped water supply projects to provide safe drinking water,” a press release issued in this regard mentioned.

The mega projects will be executed out of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) funding, the communiqué read.

Details of the mega piped water supply projects:

After completion, the project in Nayagarh would benefit around 3,08,231 people of 429 villages under 73 GPs of two Blocks of the district. At least, 1,54,594 people of 232 villages under 37 GPs of Ranpur Block and 1,53,637 people of 197 villages under 36 GPs of Odagaon Block will be provided with safe drinking water. Cabinet approved the lowest tender of M/s KEC International Limited in joint venture with SPML Infra Limited, Mumbai amounting to Rs 395,43,79,722 for execution of the work.

Similarly, after completion, the piped water supply project in Bargarh would benefit around 2,95,290 people of 316 villages under 58 GPs of three Blocks of the district. At least, 65,715 people of 104 villages under 15 GPs of Ambabhona Block, 90,321 people of 84 villages under 16 GPs of Bhatli Block and 1,39,254 people of 128 villages under 27 GPs of Sohela Block will be provided with safe drinking water. Cabinet approved the lowest tender of M/s KEC International Limited in JV with SPML Infra Limited, Mumbai amounting to Rs 453,10,33,000 for execution of the work.

Likewise, the project in Khordha would benefit around 4,16,886 people of 356 villages under 63 GPs of four Blocks of the district, after completion. At least, 1,03,085 people of 110 villages under 17 GPs of Tangi Block, 91,345 people of 87 villages under 15 GPs of Bhubaneswar Block, 1,07,997 people of 75 villages under 15 GPs of Balipatna Block and 1,14,459 people of 84 villages under 16 GPs of Balianta Block will be provided with safe drinking water. Cabinet approved the lowest tender of M/s NCC Limited, Hyderabad amounting to Rs 456,51,05,905 for execution of the work.

Moreover, the project in Kalahandi would benefit around 1,26,328 people of 155 villages under 36 GPs of two Blocks of the district will be benefited. At least, 39,773 people of 90 villages under 14 GPs of Thuamul Rampur Block and 86,555 people of 65 villages under 22 GPs of Koksara Block will be provided with safe drinking water. Cabinet approved the lowest tender of M/s Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited, Hyderabad amounting to Rs 248,91,05,000 for execution of the work.

Construction work of the projects is targeted for completion within a period of 24 months.
