Cabinet nod to create new posts under Agriculture & Food Production Service Rules

Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, the State Cabinet today approved the Odisha Agriculture and Food Production Service (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules-2018 for creation of new posts in Agriculture Officers Service Cadre.

Under the rule, recruitment will be made to posts like Chief District Agriculture Officer (CDAO), Agriculture District Officer (ADO) and Block Agriculture Officer (BAO). The entry post to the cadre will be Assistant Agriculture Officer whereas other grades posts up to Additional Director of Agriculture will be promotional posts from among the feeder grade posts.

The rule is applicable for all Agriculture Officers Service Cadre posts in Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment.

Besides, the Cabinet approved the food and procurement policy for Kharif marketing season 2018-19.

Under the policy, the State Government fixed a target to procure 55 lakh metric tonne paddy (37 lakh metric tonne rice) for the season. The farmers will receive the payment money within three days after the procurement.  The money will be transferred to their bank accounts within 24 to 72 hours. However, the paddy will be procured from farmers registered in the online portal of FS and CW Department.  Sources said while Kharif crop will be procured from November 2018 to April 2019, Rabi crop will be procured from May to June 2019.

The paddy will be procured as per the MSP declared by Government of India (Rs 1750 per quintal for common variety and Rs 1770 per quintal for Grade A variety).

This apart, the Cabinet also approved a budgetary allocation of Rs 1250 crore fund towards Ama Gaon Ama Vikas programme for the year 2018-19.

Sources said ceiling limit for each project will cost between Rs 1 and Rs 10 lakh and be executed by Panchayat Samiti departmentally. The district Collector will supervise and monitor the work under the scheme.
