Cabinet nod to drinking water projects in 4 Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved drinking water projects in four districts of the state under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

The Cabinet approved three mega drinking water projects in Koraput and Nabarangpur districts.

As many as 2,46,340 people of 375 villages under 52 panchayats in the two districts will be benefitted by the drinking water projects, said an official.

The state government will spend Rs 479,50,00,000 on the three projects. A target has been set to complete the construction work within 24 months, he added.

The Cabinet gave its nod for execution of a rural piped water supply project in Cuttack with an allocation of Rs 153,51,25,281. The work for the project will be completed within 24 months. The project will cater to the needs of 1,47,542 people of 23 panchayats under Tangi-Choudwar block in Cuttack district, sources said.

As per the Cabinet decision, the state government will implement six mega piped water supply projects in Bolangir district. As many as 3 lakh people will be benefitted by the drinking water projects in Bolangir.
