Call centre by Odisha Police to deal with domestic violence during lockdown

Bhubaneswar: To look into issues of domestic violence faced by women during COVID-19 lockdown and to rescue the victims, Odisha Police has decided to launch ‘Phone-Up Programme’, which will be implemented through the state-level call center of SCRB.

As per official sources, telephone calls will be made from the call center to the women who were victims of domestic violence in the past to find out their well being. If continuation of violence is reported in any case, physical verification will be done at the district-level to find out the condition of the victims.

SCRB call center will intimate such matter to DSP/Addl. SP of concerned IUCAW for follow up action, sources added.
