Cameras installed at cash counting place in Odisha’s Srimandir after theft from Hundi

Puri: Following theft from Hundi in Srimandir here, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) took initiative for transparency by installing cameras at donation money counting place.

Expressing big concern over repeated theft allegations from Hundi, the temple administration installed six cameras and a 32-inch LCD screen through which the devotees can also view the live picture of cash counting at the shrine.

In case of suspicious activity comes to fore, the temple admin will order probe, sources said.

Recently, a class IV employee of the SJTA had allegedly stolen over Rs 20,000 cash from Hundi while counting the money.

Earlier, several allegations were reported about theft of cash received in form of donations from the devotees at Srimandir, the abode of Lord Jagannath.
