Cancer patient contracts COVID-19 in Odisha

Cuttack: A cancer patient undergoing treatment at the Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre in Cuttack tested positive for deadly COVID-19. This was informed by the Director of the cancer hospital Lalatendu Sarangi today.

The cancer patient from Ganjam district was admitted to the emergency ward of the Acharya Harihar cancer hospital on June 15, Sarangi added.

After tested positive for the COVID-19, the cancer patient has been shifted to the KIMS COVID hospital in Bhubaneswar, he informed.

Apart from the cancer patient, who tested positive for the coronavirus, two other patients were undergoing treatment at the emergency ward.

The Director of the cancer hospital said the ward has been sealed and sanitized after one of the cancer patients was found COVID-19 positive.

Doctors and other staff of the hospital will undergo coronavirus tests tomorrow. Also, two patients who were admitted to the emergency ward and their attendants will be also tested.

So far, as many as 5752 persons in the State have tested positive for the deadly virus.
