Cannabis worth Rs 1 lakh seized, five arrested in Odisha

Odisha Excise officials arrested five persons for possessing cannabis worth Rs 1 lakh on Monday.

Sukanta Jena of Angul, Gita Sahoo of Cuttack, Bhaskar Kanhar, Sushant Mallick and Anand Mallick of Kandhamal district were arrested for possessing the contraband.

At least 20 kg of cannabis was recovered from the accused, an officials said. “We apprehended them near Baghamari area when they stepped out of a bus. The five accused had planned to disperse from that location and go to various parts in the city to sell the cannabis,” the official added.

A case has been registered and the five persons were produced in a local court here on Monday.
