Carcass of 30-feet-long whale recovered in Odisha’s Puri

Carcass of a 30-feet-long whale was found along the sea coast in Puri district of Odisha this morning.

Forest officials arrived at sea beach located at the backside of Puri-Balukhand forest range and rescued the carcass after being informed about it.

“It seems the whale has been dead since the past several days. Stale smell is emanating from the whale. We will conduct post-mortem to ascertain the reason behind the death,” said Puri Divisional Forest Officer Chitaranjan Mishra.
