Caretaker held for defrauding divyang of Rs 1.03 lakh in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: A man was arrested by the Khandagiri Police for allegedly defrauding a divyang of Rs 1.03 lakh after a search for six months.

The accused, Pramod Kumar Nanda of Jaradapari village under Biridi police limits of Jagatsinghpur district was held from his village on Monday.

As per reports, the accused was working as a caretaker at the house of complainant Sandeep Acharya, a native of Baramunda Housing Board Colony. During September last year, Sandeep was admitted to a hospital after falling ill. He gave his ATM card to Pramod to withdraw cash meet daily household expenses.

Sandeep was discharged from the hospital on October 10. Curiously a total of Rs 1.03 lakh was withdrawn from his account the next day and caretaker Pramod went absconding.

Following this, Sandeep lodged a complaint at Khandagiri police station on April 12.

A police official said preliminary investigation shows Pramod had earlier also allegedly defrauded other people while working as a caretaker.
