Cash-strapped Pakistan rents out PM’s house

Bhubaneswar/Islamabad: The official residence of Pakistan Prime Minister in Islamabad has been put up for rent. As per media reports in Pakistan, the federal cabinet has decided to allow people to hold fashion, cultural, educational and other events on the premises of the Prime Minister’s official residence.

The media report further stated the federal cabinet has formed two committees who will ensure discipline and decorum of the Prime Minister’s house be maintained during the events.

The report added auditorium of the Prime Minister’s official residence, two guest wings, and a lawn have been rented out.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been staying at his Bani Gala residence. However, he uses the PM office for work purposes.

In August 2019, the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had announced to convert the Prime Minister’s House into a university. But the government later changed its plan.

Pakistan’s economy has fallen by $19 billion in last three years since Khan came to the power.
