Cats poisoned to death in Odisha; complaint lodged

Cuttack: An animal lover approached the police seeking action against her neighbour after her three pets were allegedly poisoned to death at her residence.

A complaint has been lodged in this regard by Nilima Dalai, a resident of Mugabhanga area, at the Cuttack Sadar Police Station yesterday.

In the complaint, she alleged that her three cats were brutally killed by one neighbour namely Dilip Dalai in her absence at house.

“When I and my husband had been outside for some work, our neighbour Dilip Dalai alias Budha, who is an anti social person, offered poisoned food to my domestic animals that resulted in death of my three cats,” the complainant alleged.

The accused killed three pets over past grudges, as per the allegation.

“Earlier, the accused had threatened my mother-in-law citing that he will kill our pets by poisoning them,” she mentioned in the complaint.

Since the Centre and State Government have regulated Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, she sought action against the accused under various sections of the legislation.
