Jankia: Acting on a directive of Khurda Superintendent of Police (SP) Siddharth Kataria, a team of cops today seized a container truck following interception of the vehicle at a place on NH-16 under Jankia police limits in the district. Police have detained three persons in this connection.

According to an official source, Jankia police was tipped off about the illegal transportation of cattle in the container truck.  Swinging into action, the team raided the truck (bearing registration number UP-23 AT-1851) leading to seizure of the vehicle and detention of three accused.

The police team led by Jankia SDPO Dillip Das took part in the operation, the official stated.

A detailed probe was initiated in this connection, which is underway.

“The cattle were being carried in the truck in an inhuman manner,” the senior policeman added.
