Cattle trafficking busted in Mayurbhanj; 10 cows rescued

Baripada: Busting a cattle trafficking racket, Karanjia police of Mayurbhanj today rescued 10 cows from a pickup van and seized the vehicle in Chanchabani area in the district.

However, the driver and helper of the vehicle managed to flee the spot.

Sources said a group of locals noticed the cattle-laden pickup van and immediately intercepted it in Chanchabani area. They later informed the matter to police, who reached the spot and rescued all the 10 cows and later handed them over to Kanranjia cattle shed. The cops further initiated an inquiry in this connection.

Meanwhile, villagers expressed strong discontentment alleging that cattle trafficking has become rampant in Karanjia area but the local administration has turned a deaf ear to their repeated complaints about such incidents.
