Caught on camera: Odisha man posing as Dy Drugs Inspector loots cash from clinic

Nabarangpur: A man posing as the deputy drugs inspector allegedly looted cash from a Homeopathy clinic in Umerkote area of Odisha’s Nabarangpur district.

The incident took place in broad daylight at a private Homeopathy clinic run by Dr. Panchanana Mishra at his residence at Kandagaon Road on Friday.

According to reports, the person in guise of the deputy drugs inspector carried out search at the clinic and asked for money from the doctor as fine amount for expiry of clinic’s registration. When Dr. Mishra denied, he allegedly opened the drawer, picked up Rs 1 lakh cash and left.

The face of fake official as well as visual of frisking conducted by the accused have been captured on a CCTV camera installed inside the clinic.

“A person visited the clinic between 12.00 pm and 1.00 pm yesterday when my brother and sister-in-law were alone at home. Posing as the deputy drugs inspector from Bhubaneswar, he entered into the house and asked for homeopathy  clinic licence, which he claimed it as expired. He closed the doors and shut the camera too. He demanded money from Dr. Mishra threatening him to arrest and send him to jail. When the doctor refused to pay, he forcefully took Rs 1 lakh cash from the drawer and went away,” said the victim’s brother.

An FIR has been lodged at the Umerkote Police Station in this connection last night.
