CB seeks Odisha govt’s nod to attach assets of NGO Biswa

Odisha Crime Branch (CB) Tuesday wrote to the Finance department to attach properties of non government organization (NGO), ‘Biswa’ (Bharat Integrated Social Welfare Agency) and M/s Credible Microfinance Ltd, sources revealed.

The CB in its letter to the Finance department wrote to attach 11 tipper trucks and one earth moving machine, the sources added.

Earlier, the CB had written to the department to attach 10 acres of land, four buildings, deposits to the tune of Rs 53, 54,810 in different banks belonging to the organization.

According to sources, Khirod Chandra Mallick, chief of NGO Biswa had acquired  Delhi-based M/s Credible Microfinance Ltd.

Later, the firm had duped gullible people by luring them to make deposits by promising lucrative returns on their investments. The firm had opened its offices in Gajpati district.

On failing to get back their deposits with promised dividends, these depositors had moved the court.

The CB had taken up investigations in the matter on directions from the court.
