CBI begins fourth phase probe into Odisha lady teacher murder

The CBI, which is probing the sensational murder of Itishree Pradhan, a lady teacher of Tikiri Upper Primary School in Odisha’s Rayagada district in November 2013, began its fourth phase of investigation on Saturday.

itishree pradhanSources said CBI Inspector DB Mitrawala and a constable arrived at Tikiri police station in the morning and called on six local traders with the help of the local police.

The six traders—Durga Prasad Padhi, Yashwant Sahu, Narasingh Sarangi, Rajendra Nayak, Prakash Mohapatra and Babuli—were taken to a guest house where they were interrogated separately.

The CBI Inspector asked them about their relationship with Itishree and the subsequent attack on her.

The six traders were asked by the CBI officials to appear again for interrogation and not to leave the area without their prior permission.

The CBI Inspector took down the address and contact number of these traders.

Meanwhile, Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Rayagada, Nihar Ranjan Sahu on Saturday recorded the statement of former school sub inspector Netrananda Dandasena in an eve-teasing case.

The case was registered by the police following a complaint filed by Itishree on July 18, 2013, alleging that Dandasena used to pass lewd comments and inflict mental torture to her during his tenure.
