CBI officials’ entry into Odisha HC judge res: FIR quashed by SC

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today quashed the FIR against the CBI in the case pertaining to the entry of some officers of the agency into the official residence of Orissa High Court sitting judge Justice C R Das after mistaking it to be the residence of former Orissa High Court judge Justice I.M. Quddusi.

The CBI and its officers had apologized to Justice Das and Orissa High Court Chief Justice Vineet Saran for the incident.

The apex court had earlier opined for an amicable settlement of the case.

It may be recalled here that a CBI team of four officials led by the agency’s Inspector P K Mishra probing a corruption case allegedly involving retired Orissa High Court Judge I M Quddusi had on September 20 last year attempted to trespass into the official quarters of Justice Das in Cuttack.

An FIR was registered at the Cantonment Road police station in this connection. That apart, the Odisha Bar Association had filed a PIL in the High Court against the CBI’s wrongful act.
