Sources in the CBI headquarters in Delhi said Sinha would be replaced by his Patna counterpart Rajiv Ranjan.

A young IPS officer, Sinha was posted as SP, CBI SIT in Bhubaneswar following the directive of the Supreme Court to the CBI to probe into the chit fund scam in Odisha.
Soon after taking charge, Sinha was able to dig out a series of chit fund scams in the state which had resulted in the arrest of top political leaders including the ruling MPs and MLAs.
Apart from this, a number of influential persons including Rajya Sabha member Pyari Mohan Mohapatra, Saroj Sahu, aide of chief minister Naveen Patnaik, BJD MLA Pravat Biswal, MP Rabindra Jena and senior IPS officers Satish Gajviya and Rajesh Kumar were grilled during Sinha’s tenure.
