CCTV video: One dead as truck hits car at Palasuni in Bhubaneswar; Traffic hit

Bhubaneswar: A speeding truck hit a car from rear on NH-16 at Palasuni in Odisha capital today, killing an occupant of the car and leaving three others critically injured.

According to reports, the road mishap took place this morning when the truck and the ill-fated vehicle were heading towards Cuttack on the National Highway.

The truck rammed into the car mangling it severely as it got squeezed between the truck causing the accident and another truck in front of the car.

While a man present inside the car died on the spot, three others were grievously injured. They were rescued and rushed to a hospital for treatment.

On the other hand, the driver of the truck fled the spot after the accident. On being informed, the Mancheswar police reached the spot and initiated an investigation.

The incident caused a major traffic jam affecting the movement of vehicles on the stretch of the National Highway. Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road for a while.

The traffic jam continued for more than 5 hours, for which vehicles were seen moving at snail’s pace on the NH near Palasuni.
