CDPO caught taking Rs 1 lakh bribe in Odisha

Bhawanipatna: Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Puspanjali Rath Th Rampur block in Kalahandi district was arrested by Vigilance officials today on charges of demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 1 lakh.

Reportedly, the CDPO had demanded the bribe from the complainant to appoint the latter’s spouse as Anganwadi worker. Later, a trap was laid and Rath was caught red-handed by the anti-corruption officials. The entire bribe money was also recovered from her.

A case has been registered at Koraput Vigilance police station in this regard and simultaneous searches were conducted at places associated with the official.

“Officials of  the anti-corruption wing raided his property at one place in Balangir district and two places in Kalahandi district. Further investigation is underway,” said sources.
