CEC to hear Odisha mine owners on July 22

Bhubaneswar, July 14:

The Central Empowered Committee (CEC) appointed by the Supreme Court will hear mine owners in Odisha on July 22.

The CEC will seek clarifications on violation of mining and other laws from the mine owners at the hearing, sources said.

Before the CEC hearing on July 22, the Odisha government would have a meeting with mine owners accused of violating statutory provisions on July 18.

The meeting would work out the ‘joint strategy’ to be adopted during the CEC hearing on July 22, sources said.

A four-member CEC team, it may be noted, is currently in Odisha for field verification of the violation of laws by mining companies.

The team inspected five mines in the Koira sector today.
