Ceiling slabs collapse at MKCG Hospital in Berhampur for second day in a row

Berhampur: Ceiling slabs collapsed at the super-speciality block of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Berhampur town for the second day in a row leaving patients and attendants panic-stricken.

Fortunately, no one was injured in today’s incident, which took place on the third floor of the block.

Yesterday, multiple ceiling slabs had collapsed on the fifth floor of the block. Such mishaps have raised questions over the quality of construction work.

Worth mentioning, a fire had recently broken out on the fifth floor that houses the OTs of Urology and Plastic Surgery departments.

Notably, the five-storey super-speciality block was constructed at an expenditure of Rs 150 crore under the Prime Minister Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. The building became operational last year.
