Odia writer Bilasini Mohanty will receive the Central Sahitya Akademi award for the year 2013, sources said here today.

Born in Jajpur on May 10, 1968, Bilasini did her MA in Odia literature from Utkal Uuniversoty and her M Phil from Berhampur University.

She has translated into Odia a number of workers by internationally acclaimed authors. Among her best known translated works are ‘Patan’ (Albert Camus), ‘Damien’ (Herman Hesse), ‘Sabu Desha Paradesha’ (Gurdayal Singh), Jeevan Trushna (Vincent Van Gogh’s autobiographical  novel), ‘Bidaya Bandhu’ (Ernest Hemingway), ‘Kamaleswarnka Shrestha Kahani’ , “Shrestha Pharasi Galpa’ (Best of French short stories), ‘Kehi Achhi Nischaya’ (Isaac Bashevis Singer) and ‘Swadhinata Parabarti Hindi Kshudragalpa’ (Post-independence Hindi short stories).

‘Shrestha Rushiya Galpa’, the Odia translation of a collection of the best Russian short stories is ready for publication.
