Central team hails Odisha Govt for restoration efforts post cyclone

Bhubaneswar: Additional Secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs Vivek Bharadwaj today praised the Odisha Government for its all-out efforts in restoring and rebuilding the state post cyclone FANI.

After a review meeting on cyclone FANI damage assessment held at the Secretariat here, Bharadwaj said Odisha Government’s efforts in undertaking relief and restoration works post the cyclone is really commendable.

“Relief materials including food, monetary assistance and temporary accommodation have been ensured to cyclone victims at a fast pace. The Government is still continuing its efforts to rebuild the state.” he said.

Bharadwaj further assured that the Centre will support the Odisha Government in rebuilding the state. “The Central Government will provide all kind of support to Odisha. Be it assistance for restoring the power network or strengthening livelihood through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), the Centre will be with Odisha Government.”

Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said the state government will submit a detailed memorandum to the Centre soon after preparing a final report on damage caused by the cyclone.

“We have requested the inter-ministerial team of the Centre to revise the NDRF and SDRF norms for various sectors, including power supply,” Padhi said.
