Centre invites suggestions for changes in History text books at school level

New Delhi: The Government of India today invited suggestions via email from the public for removing distortions of the Indian history from school text books. It has fixed deadline for submission of suggestions on July 15, 2021.

Students, teachers and other experts across the country may give their specific suggestions, either in English or Hindi through email at [email protected]

In a statement, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat stated the department–related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports has taken up for examination and consideration the subject ‘Reforms In The Content And Design Of School Texts’ with focus on the following –

a) Removing references to unhistorical facts and distortions about our national heroes from the text books

b) Ensuring equal or proportionate references to all periods of Indian history

c) Highlights the role of great historic women heroes including Gargi, Maitreyi or rules like Rani of Jhansi, Rani Channamma, Chand Bibi, Zalkri Bai etc.
