Centre to provide COVID vaccines free of cost to states for 18-44 age group: PM Modi

Bhubaneswar: In a major announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that starting from 21st June, the Government of India will provide COVID-19 vaccines free of cost to states for 18-44 age group.

“No state government of the country will have to spend anything on the vaccine. Government of India will provide free vaccine to all the countrymen,” the PM said.

“25% of the vaccines can be purchased by the private hospitals. Though the government will provide free vaccines to all the countrymen, those who want to pay for the same can get vaccinated at private hospitals. Private hospitals will be able to charge a maximum service charge of Rs 150 for a single dose after the fixed price of the vaccine. The task of monitoring it will remain with the state governments,” said Modi.

“We have extended the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana till Diwali. Around 80 crore Indians will get free ration under the scheme,” the PM said in another significant announcement.
