Centre writes to Odisha for implementation of PM-KISAN scheme

Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has written a letter to the Odisha Government seeking cooperation for effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Klsan SAmman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme in the State.

The Ministry asked the State Government to take timely action for identification of eligible beneficiaries to ensure transfer of benefits under the scheme. However, IT Ministry has asked the State Government to ensure that there is no duplication of eligible beneficiaries.

“State Governments are requested to immediately initiate the work of identification of beneficiaries and uploading relevant data for release of funds in the bank accounts of eligible farmer families,” said a letter sent by the Ministry to Chief Secretaries of all States.

The Ministry has also asked the State Government to notify district level grievance redressal committee for redressing grievances relating to implementation of the scheme.

Under the scheme, which is completely funded by the Centre, Rs 6,000 per annum will be provided to all small and marginal farmers across the country having cultivable holding of upto 2 hectare. The monetary assistance will be provided in three installments with effect from December 1, 2018. The first installment of Rs 2,000 will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of the farmers by March this year.
