C’garh cops scan former Odisha MLA’s bank accounts in double murder probe

Jharsuguda: Intensifying its probe into a double murder case reported in Chakradhar Nagar police station area of Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district, a four-member team of Chhattisgarh police today arrived at Brajrajnagar to examine bank accounts of former Brajrajnagar MLA Anup Sai and collect evidence.

As per reports, the Chhattisgarh police team in civil dress visited Anup’s house in Brajrajnagar and spoke to his family members. Apart from this, the police team examined Anup’s account transactions at State Bank of India’s Lamatibahal branch and UCO Bank’s MCL branch.

The Chakradhar Nagar Police today issued a notice to nephew of Anup asking him to submit documents of Bolero and Innova vehicles tomorrow. This apart, police asked the sister-in-law of deceased Kalpana to appear before it.

Meanwhile, Raigarh SP Santosh Singh today informed Anup and his driver Bardhan Toppo will be taken on remand tomorrow. Also, the duo will be taken to the spot for crime reconstruction.

Anup was picked up by police official of Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district on February 12 night from a temple near his residence in Jharsuguda town for questioning in connection with a double murder case of 2016 in which bodies of one Kalpana Das and daughter Pravati Das were recovered in a forest in Chakradhar Nagar. The three time Brajrajnagar MLA was arrested by the Chhattisgarh Police the next day after a round of questioning.

Following this, Odisha Chief Minister and BJD chief expelled Anup from his party. The former legislator was also removed as the Chairperson of the Odisha State Warehousing Corporation.
