Chain snatcher gang arrested in Odisha capital

Twin city commissionerate police today busted a chain snatchers’ gang in the Odisha capital and arrested three members of the gang, including its mastermind and a person who used to buy stolen property.

The police have seized 26 gold chains and a motor bike from their possession. Among those arrested are the gang’s mastermind Rakesh Rout of Nischintakoili and a receiver of stolen property, police said.

Rout, a history sheeter, has been forwarded to court earlier on four occasions and is involved in many dacoity and loot cases.

Rout, who operated through his associates, has committed dacoities in the territories of all  police stations in the capital.
