Chandpur firing: Odisha police yet to register FIR against Collector, SP

The FIR lodged by the father of Pradip Behera, who was killed in the police firing at Chandpur on September 11, against the collector and SP of Odisha’s Naygarh district holding them responsible for his son’s death, is yet to be registered by the police.

According to reports, Naba Kishore Behera of Godijharapatna Sahi village under Tangi police station limits submitted an FIR to the IIC, Tangi on Saturday.

In the FIR, Behera has alleged that his son Pradip was shot dead by the police at Chandpur on the orders of the Nayagarh collector and SP .

However, the police, who accepted the FIR, are yet to register a case so far, the reports said.

While Pradip, who sustained three bullet injuries on his head and neck died on the spot, the condition of the two other injured persons, presently undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, is stated to be critical, hospital sources said.
