The first day of moon sighting after no moon day is known as Chandra Darshan.

It has religious significance as people observe day-long fast and break it after sighting new moon on Chandra Darshan day.

Devotees also worship Chandra Dev/ Moon God and offer special prayers.

Chandra Darshan Rituals

Devotees observe fast on this day without eating or drinking anything to please the Moon God. The fast is broken after sighting the Moon following sunset.

It is believed that the fast observer and performer of rituals is bestowed with endless fortune and prosperity.

Donations are also made on this day. People donate clothes, rice and sugar among other things to Brahmins on this day.
