Change of Guard in FICCI FLO national and chapters

Bhubaneswar: As Dharitri Patnaik, Founding Chairperson of FICCI Ladies organization completed her one-year tenure on April 15,  FLO welcomed Sunita Mohanty as the new Chairperson for 2021-22. At the national level, Mrs.JahanabiPhookan handed over the presidency to Mrs. UjjwalaSinghania.

FICCI Ladies organization’s Bhubaneswar chapter is the 17th chapter launched in April 2020 during the lockdown with 61 vibrant women entrepreneurs and DharitriPatnaik, MD Jivada Ventures Pvt Ltd & Chairperson Diversified Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd as the Founding Chairperson. During the one-year period, the FLO Bhubaneswar chapter has embarked upon many initiatives aimed at the transformation in the lives and livelihoods of many women through skill development, knowledge and information sharing, mentoring, and building financial linkages. Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), FLO has taken up initiatives to bring sustainable changes in women’s lives.

2020-21 theme “Thrive, Transcend and Transform” guided the work of the chapter with the focus of getting more women into the workforce as entrepreneurs or employees. Carrying forward this vision, FLO Bhubaneswar chapter’s some of the thematic interventions were village adoption program, 3 C’s-Competency, Capacity Enhancement & Confidence building, adopted ITI, support to distress weavers and artisans and sustainable initiatives.

The chapter’s direct reach to 69,989 women during the year includes providing certified life skill training ‘Personal Advancement & Career Enhancement’ to 10,060 women and girls, enrolling 631 women and girls in job oriented skill development training programs, providing support to 309 women entrepreneurs and mentoring 160 girls of government ITI, providing financial literacy training to 3000 women and by impacting lives of many more women through mental health counselling during the pandemic situation, webinars, meetings, international days observation and events. The chapter’s initiatives reached out to poor women and girls of 97 villages of Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Puri districts and 16 slums of Bhubaneswar in Odisha.

The first ‘FLO Odisha Women’s award was launched by the honorable Chief Minister of Odisha  Naveen Patnaik to acknowledge the women achievers in different fields in Odisha on the eve of International Women’s Day 2021. The talent show ‘Bhubaneswar’s Got Talent’ was also launched to showcase the talents of women of Odisha.

66 webinars including 10 national webinars were conducted by FLO Bhubaneswar chapter to provide knowledge and information on various topics to enable the FLO members and women entrepreneurs to gain domain knowledge.

The policy brief on Women Entrepreneurship in Odisha highlighting the status of women entrepreneurship in Odisha was released by the Hon’ble Chief Minister and the policy recommendations towards building enabling entrepreneurship ecosystem were well received.

The new chapter launched during the pandemic under the chairmanship of dynamic women leader and entrepreneur Dharitri Patnaik was able to make a difference to the lives of thousands of women of Odisha and could establish the FLO Odisha chapter as a credible women chamber of commerce in the state.

Dharitri Patnaik during her annual presentation mentioned that she firmly believes in “there is no force powerful than a woman determined to rise”.
