Chariot construction for Rath Jatra begins in Odisha’s Puri

Puri: In view of COVID-19 pandemic, the Rath Anukul ritual was performed on the premises of the Shri Jagannath temple in Puri instead of Rathakhala.

On the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, logs were cut with golden axe.

As per the tradition, puja was performed on the ‘ratha katha’ after getting the ‘Agyanamala’, Prior to this, a yagana was conducted as per the suggestion of the Puri Shankaracharya at a place between Chahani Mandap and Snana Mandap.

After Srimandir Purohits performed the Rath Anukul ritual, carpenters tied sarees around logs and started chariot construction work.
