Chemicals-mixed hair oil worth Rs 7.5 lakh seized in Rourkela; 2 arrested

Rourkela: The Plantsite police have arrested two persons for allegedly manufacturing and selling adulterated hair oil in Odisha’s Rourkela.

The accused were identified as Zakir Hussain (43) and Sayeed Akhtar (41) of Islam Nagar in the city.

A case has been registered against them under Sections 420, 482, 483, 486, 471 and 34 of the IPC, Sections 103 and 104 of Trademarks Act, and Section 63 of Copyright Act.

The offence came to fore after police raided the house of Hussain and recovered the adulterated oil worth around Rs 7.5 lakh.

According to police sources, the two were manufacturing the oil by adding ‘inferior, unwanted and cheap chemical substances’. They used to label the products with the names of various well-known brands and sell those in the market as genuine ones.

Hundreds of bottles containing the adulterated oil were found in the house of Hussain.

Further investigation by police was underway.
