Chennai building collapse: Bodies of 2 Odisha labourers cremated

Beguniapada/Paralakhemundi, July 5:

The bodies of two labourers from Odisha who were killed in the Chennai building collapse tragedy arrived at their respective villages and cremated on Friday.

According to reports, the bodies of Maguni Pradhan and L Lokesh (25) arrived at their respective villages of Mardakot of Beguniapada in Ganjam district and Ranipentha village of Gajapati district with the help of Odisha Red Cross branches.odia workers killed in chennai

However, there is still no trace of Maguni’s brother-in-law Gobardhan Swain of Badapalli village of Mathasarasingi panchayat of Gajapati district.

Maguni and his brother-in-law had gone to Chennai for work on June 1 this year and  were engaged in the construction work of the 11-storeyed under-construction building at Molibhakam near Chennai.

On the fateful day on June 28, both of them were working inside the building when the tragedy struck.

Following information about Maguni’s death, his wife Satyabhama had sent a fellow villager Dusmanta Barik to Chennai to identify his body.

However, the familyof the missing worker Gobardhan is in a state of shock as his whereabouts is still not known.
