Chhattisgarh Road Mishap: Odisha CM announces ex-gratia for kin of deceased labourers

Bhubaneswar:  Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of the kin of the deceased persons of Ganjam district killed in severe road mishap in Raipur of neighbouring Chhattisgarh today.

The CM expressed deep grief over the death of seven persons of the southern district and conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved families. Besides, Patnaik announced free medical treatment for the injured persons and wished their speedy recovery .

The CM also directed Rural Development and Labour Minister Susanta Singh to immediately proceed to Raipur to extend necessary assistance to the victims of accident. He also asked DGP Abhay to remain in touch with his Chhattisgarh counterparts for coordination.

“As per the CM’s direction, we are in touch with senior officers of Chhattisgarh police.Seven injured persons are being treated in Raipur Medical College Hospital. Post-mortem of seven bodies will be done soon,” said the DGP.

Remaining 59 labours are safe and under care of Raipur administration. A team of Odisha police under Padampur SDPO is rushing to Raipur to assist the police there, he added.
