Chhenapoda Dibasa celebrated across Odisha with enthusiasm

Bhubaneswar: Chhenapoda Dibasa was celebrated today with enthusiasm across the State.

Nayagarh Bikash Manch and Odia Media Private Limited jointly celebrated the day at Jayadev Bhawan here. The purpose of this celebration was to popularise and promote the sweet dish, a spokesperson said.

Khandapada MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Nayagarh MLA Arun Sahoo, Ranapur MLA Satyanarayan Pradhan, Dasapalla MLA Ramesh Chandra Behera, eminent litterateur Das Benhur, Odia singer Tansen Singh and noted social activist Padma Shri Sabarmatee attended the event as eminent guests.

Nayagarh district got its new identity through Chhenapoda, Khandapada MLA expressed. The Geographical Indications (GI) tag for the sweet dish was demanded by many dignitaries at the event.

Chhenapoda Dibasa was also celebrated in Paryatan Bhawan in Bhubaneswar in presence of OTDC Chairman Lenin Mohanty and Tourism Director Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman OTDC Mohanty spoke on the importance of the cuisine as an aspect that immensely contributed to the development of Tourism in Odisha. Culinary Tourism in Odisha is on the rise and as such, we must take pride in promoting the local cuisines of the state which will help in developing the image of ‘Brand Odisha’ in the global arena.

Additional Secretary Balamukunda Bhuyan, Additional Secretary Ananta Narayan Singh Laguri, Joint Secretary Ellora Bharati Jena, Joint Secretary Rajkishore Palei, OSD Tourism Ansuman Rath and several other senior officials of the Dept of Tourism and OTDC were present on the occasion.
