Child marriage bid foiled in Odisha’s Cuttack, 12-YO girl rescued

Athagarh: The police along with members of Childline today foiled a child marriage bid and rescued a minor girl in Gurudijhatia area of Cuttack district.

As per the complaint, preparations were on to marry off the 12-year-old girl, a resident of Dandapadia village to a 15-year-old boy from the same village. As the girl was objecting to the marriage, her family members forced her to remain silent and marry the minor boy.

Yesterday somehow she managed to call up 100 and seek help from the police. After receiving information, a team of police along with Childline members and social activist reached the girl’s place and foiled the child marriage.
