Berhampur: A member of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) was allegedly murdered at Nilakantha Nagar here under Gosaninuagaon police limits in Odisha's Ganjam district, last evening.

The deceased was identified as Soudamini Rath.

According to reports, Rath was attacked by the accused while she was returning home and thrashed to death.

On being informed, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body for post-mortem and initiated an investigation to identify and nab the accused.

Police have arrested the driver of the woman in connection with the death.

Though the reason behind the attack was yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected that the incident was a fallout of past enmity.
