Chilly winter returns to Odisha; mercury to drop by 3-4 degree C

Bhubaneswar: With return of winter following spell of moderate rainfall in several parts of Odisha, night temperature is likely to dip further from today onwards.
“As the north-west cold and dry winds are entering into Odisha, the minimum temperature is likely to drop by 3 to 4 degree Celsius during next 48 hours,” tweeted the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, today.
Under influence of cold and dry winds, the cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in interior areas from today till January 30, 2022.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar forecast that the night temperature in hilly and interior parts of Odisha may drop below 10 degree Celsius.
The cold wave conditions gripped entire State with gradual fall in temperature below 11 degree Celsius in as many as 10 places in last 24 hours.
While Daringbadi recorded minimum temperature 6.5 degree Celsius becoming the coldest place in Odisha, Phulbani and Keonjhar stood at 8.00 degree Celsius yesterday night, followed by Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Boudh and Bhawanipatna with 9.00 degree Celsius.
Similarly, the night temperature was 9.6 degree Celsius in Angul, 10 degree Celsius in Koraput and Nayagarh. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 12.1 degree Celsius and 13 degree Celsius respectively.
