NORTH KOREA NUCLEAR TEST

North Korea announced on Wednesday that it had tested a hydrogen bomb, Xinhua news agency reported.

It resulted in a 4.9-magnitude earthquake with an epicentre less than 100 km from the country’s nearest border with China.

As of 1.00 p.m. on Wednesday, readings from 25 monitoring stations in the border areas were between 65 and 95 nGy/h, which is within the normal range.

The ministry said it will conduct both automatic reading and human sampling and analysis and report the readings “in a timely manner”. (IANS)
