The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CBI conducted simultaneous raids at 14 places, including Bhubaneswar, in Odisha in connection with the mega chit fund scam in the state.

Teams of the SIT began the simultaneous raids in Bhubaneswar, Ganjam, Angul and Sambalpur districts at 7.30 AM.

"Searches were conducted on the residential premises of accused Directors of the company namely Firoj Khan, Purna Chandra Biswal, Chinmaya Subudhi, Amanullah Khan, Santosh Nanda and other persons. Incriminating documents in this case have been found during the search," a CBI spokesperson said in New Delhi.

According to reports, the SIT teams raided the head office of Safex Infra India Private Ltd in at Gandhi Nagar in Brahmapur, a branch office in th same city and another branch office at Chhatrapur.

Besides, the team has also raided the other branch office in Bomikhal area of Bhubaneswar, which has been closed since one-and-half year.

The raids continued all day, sources said.

The company being raided today is among the 36 companies being probed by the SIT, they said.

It may be mentioned that the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of the Odisha Crime Branch, during investigation, had arrested eight officebearers of Safex Infra and seized 12 acres of land and bank account of Rs 5 lakh last year.
