The CBI conducted search operations on Saradha offices at various places in the state, including Puri, in connection with the mega Odisha chit fund scam this morning.

An eight-member team of the central investigating agency searched the office of the Kolkata based company at Badashankha in Puri, which had been sealed by EOW in April 2014.

The search operation was still on at the time of filing this report.

In April 2014, the EOW had seized computer hard disks and dcouments from the Badashankha office of the Saradha. In its raid today, the CBI team is looking into papers that had not been seized by the EWO, sources in the central agency said.

The Puri office of the company had defrauded investors of about Rs 10 crores, the cources said.

There are reports of CBI raids on Saradha offices at other places in the state including Koraput, Cuttack and Balasore, but it could not be independently verified.
