City bus service to resume soon from BPIA in Odisha capital!

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to improve public transport system on route to Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), the Bhubaneswar-Puri Transport Services Limited (BPTSL) is planning to resume the city bus service from the airport shortly.

In this regard, Odisha Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) department has sought permission from the airport authority to open a booking counter for city bus service at Bhubaneswar airport.

In a letter to BPIA Director Suresh Chandra Hota, H&UD Secretary G Mathivathanan urged him to allot the department five-square meter space on premises of the airport for opening of a counter to book for city bus service.

After getting space on premises of the airport, the city bus service is expected to be operated smoothly carrying a number of passengers from and to the airport.

The proposal is yet to get the final nod from the airport authority.

When contacted Hota, he said, “We will consider on it. The city bus service should be launched from airport to Puri and various parts of the state capital. We will take a decision on the H&UD department’s letter very soon.”

Notably, the city bus service between Nandankanan and Biju Patnaik airport was closed for over two years in Bhubaneswar.
