Cuttack: With a vision to make a difference through literature and art, youngsters in the city organized 'WordLust' in Odisha's Millennium City today.
The event saw open mic poetry session, storytelling, quiz, journalism, and photography. "We wish to bring literature back into the life of students by organizing such competitions,” said Arya Senapati, a member of the organizing team.
Nivedita Das, director of Grassrootsindia, an organization working on women empowerment, was the chief guest.
Around hundred students from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Berhampur participated in this event. "This event was well organized and wonderfully coordinated", said a participant.
The organizers tagged it with a social cause ‘Warm this Winter’. “This year, we have decided to distribute blankets and winter wear among those staying in the children’s home where the event is being organized,” Ansuman Biswal, another member of the organizing team, added.
The organizing team of WordLust is a group of youngsters from different colleges in Cuttack. They had organized the same event earlier this year and in 2016, too.
However, this is not a sole attempt in this direction. The city also saw a slam poetry elimination round, Hitch Hike, and a stand-up comedy elimination round organized by IIT Kharagpur as a part of its Spring Fest in collaboration with the famous Chain Jokers of Odisha, yesterday.
