Keonjhar: During the swearing-in ceremony of Keonjhar MLA Mohan Charan Majhi as the Odisha Chief Minister on Wednesday evening, a celebratory incident at Dhanurjaipur village under Hatadihi block turned violent, leaving five BJP supporters critically injured.

Reports indicate that the injuries occurred due to a clash between two groups over celebratory fireworks. Four supporters were injured in the altercation, while the fifth one was struck by a firecracker.

The conflict began when a villager, Silai Birua, and his son requested the BJP supporters to stop the fireworks. Their request led to a dispute, during which Silai was allegedly assaulted by the BJP supporters.

In retaliation, a group of villagers attacked the BJP supporters, resulting in serious injuries to Biswajit Raut, Narayan Samal, Ashok Jena, and Ganguly Birua. They were taken to Agarpada Community Healthcare Center (CHC), with Narayan Samal later being shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack due to the severity of his injuries.

Local police, upon being informed, arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. A case has been registered following a complaint by Biswajit Raut.
