Class 10 student found hanging in hostel room ahead of Odisha Matric Exam

Balangir: Ahead of Odisha Matric Examinations for the year 2024, a Class 10 student was found dead in his hostel room late on Monday night here in the district.

The deceased was a student of the Viswatma Vidyamandir at the Khujenpali area in Balangir district. He was to appear in the annual High School Certificate (HSC) Examination at Bhagaban Bidya Mandir Examination centre in Khujenpali starting today.

According to reports, the examinee was found hanging with a gamuchha (cotton cloth) inside the washroom of the school hostel today morning. Other students informed about the incident to their school authorities, who rushed him to a nearby hospital. The doctors declared the student dead.

It is suspected that the student took an extreme step to end his life under examination pressure.
